Plum Baby 'Taste Adventures' Review

Back in May, Plum Baby sent us some of their new savoury pouches to review (you can read that here) and now we've been sent more yummy food!

We received Taste Adventures (Stage 3 - 10 months+) in Sweet Potato & Chicken Peri Peri; Super Greens, Pasta & Cheese and Aubergine & Lamb Moussaka.

"Taste Adventures were created to help babies explore an exciting new world of tastes and textures. Plum have based this range on popular dishes from around the world. They are tasty combinations of healthy, wholesome ingredients, packed with chunky veg & Plum's favourite super-grain, quinoa, for a littke extra texture and nutrition."

First, we tried the Super Greens, Pasta & Cheese. The 'Super Greens' refer to spinach, peas and green beans.

I'll admit - it doesn't look very appetising. As I always do, I tried a bit myself before feeding it to C. I didn't like it. I'm not a spinach fan so the taste was just too strong for me. C, however, was a different story. I honestly expected him not to like it either but he didn't even pull the "I've never had this before" disgusted face. He actually chomped his way through the entire bowl!

The greens are puréed into a thick paste and there are little chunks of pasta throughout. He had no trouble at all chewing the pasta and putting his two new teeth to good use.

Next up was the Sweet Potato & Chicken Peri Peri.

This looks a lot more appetising than the previous one and it smelled divine too and made me hungry. I could have gobbled it all up myself (I didn't). As usual, I tasted a bit and loved it! A little bit of spice, perfect for a 10 month old.

Like normal, C took to it straight away. He finished about 3/4 of it and I had to force the rest into him. I don't think it was because he didn't like it, there was a lot going on around us and he was just being nosy! It had a sort of risotto texture so really easy for him to eat.

Finally, we tried the Aubergine & Lamb Moussaka.

I've never tried this as a 'big person' meal so didn't know what to expect. It tasted a little watery with a hint of tomato. I could taste more tomato than anything else.

C loved it. The whole way through eating it he was talking, or babbling, between each mouthful. I imagine he was saying, "Mummy, this is really nice. Why haven't you given me this before?" He also thought it would be a good idea to stick his fingers in it, you know, to really get a feel of it, then 'paint' his highchair with it. He got very messy.

All of these Taste Adventure meals can be eaten at room temperature, but I dunked them in hot water for a few minutes to heat them up.

I definitely think we'll purchase these again. They were generous sized portions and, like I said, he did enjoy them all.

(Disclaimer: I received these items free of charge in exchange for an open and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.)
